Some students are even looking into getting Ivy League scholarships so it is really important for them to get excellent grades. They could get these high grades by doing really well in exams. However, some of them suffer from test anxiety in high school, causing their test performance to be hampered substantially. Test anxiety in high school is never good because this is the time when students are really careful about their grades and having low scores in exams could really affect their overall grades. In grade school, test anxiety could be scary because it could badly affect a student’s health but test anxiety in high school is given much more attention because this is when it gets more serious.
Students are working harder just to get decent grades in the exams and some really go the extra mile just to make sure that they master every lesson and get a perfect score in the exams. Some even over work themselves, causing them to feel stressed. We all know how stress can ruin anyone’s disposition and also, health. If a student studies too much, he would not have time to interact with his friends and see other people. This would cause him to have some anxiety. Also, if he fails an exam even if he has done everything just to understand each and every single lesson, he might feel more anxious to take another exam. The pressure brought about by parents could also cause test anxiety in high school.
Everyone could attest that even if a student is not so smart, he or she is still expected to do well by his or her parents. This causes some students to feel pressured to do well and if they fail, they get depressed for not meeting their parents’ expectations. Test anxiety in high school is even worse because this is when the expectations of the parents become even greater. Other than your desire of getting in a good university, there are also your parents to please. It is just normal for them to have greater expectations and you would work hard just to fulfill those.
However, not everyone can succeed and this causes you to develop test anxiety in high school. To help you with this situation, you should make sure that your esteem does not get affected by external pressures. It is yourself that you would have to please so do not get overly stressed for not meeting the expectations of other people. You would not want to develop test anxiety in high school because this could only make your performance worse. Keep in mind that your health is valuable and keep it in its best state all the time to save yourself from the possible effects of stress. Also, prepare for all the exams but make sure to not overdo it because that would not be healthy.
